The average family goes through 24 rolls of plastic wrap and up to 1,000 plastic sandwich bags per year. This equates to 1.2 billion metres (745,000 miles) of cling film across the UK; this means enough plastic to go around the earth 30 times over ends up in landfill each year. We believe something needs to be done; that’s why we love beeswax food wraps.

The simplicity means they are beautiful to use on a daily basis. Bees have provided us with nature's gummy adhesive; it’s incredibly handy! Feel good about reducing your waste whilst using a product that is much better than the plastic alternative.

Simply warm the wrap in your hands, then wrap around your choice of food; cheese, sandwiches, fruit or vegetables. Stop throwing away empty plastic bags, and instead, choose these chemical-free and daily reusable eco wraps.

How long do beeswax food wraps last?

Beeswax wraps usually come with the promise to last for up to a year, but they can last longer if they are well looked after. You can ‘refresh’ your wax wraps by re-melting the wraps in the oven by placing them on a baking tray and setting the oven to a low temperature for five minutes.

Can you wash beeswax wraps?

You should hand wash your beeswax wraps in cold water with alcohol-free soap; this will make the coating stiff, providing a stable surface to clean. The wrap should be washed like a plate with a gentle dishcloth or sponge. You may then need to ‘refresh’ your food wraps by re-melting the wax in the oven.

How often do you wash beeswax wraps?

It will depend on what you have used the wrap for. If you’ve used it to wrap dry food that hasn’t left any residue, you can simply use the wrap again. But if you’ve used your wrap to cover a sticky substance, it’s best to give it a wash right away.

How do I make my beeswax wrap sticky again?

Simply place your beeswax food wrap onto a baking sheet and pop it in the oven at a low temperature, around 60-70 degrees Celsius or 150 degrees Fahrenheit. After a minute or two, check to see if the wax has melted. Once the wax has melted, remove it from the oven, gently holding the corners of the wrap until it cools enough for the wax to harden again.

Can beeswax wraps go in the microwave?

No, beeswax wraps cannot go into the microwave or oven as the wax will melt. The only time you should be placing your wrap in the oven is when you are re-waxing it.

Can beeswax wraps go in the freezer?

Yes, beeswax wraps can go in the freezer. Simply wrap your food as usual to create a tight seal and pop it into the freezer to keep your foods fresh.

Can you wrap meat in beeswax wraps?

It is not recommended to wrap raw meat in a beeswax wrap, but it can be used as a lid to cover bowls or plates of cooked foods.
