The Wild and Stone team are passionate about creating and introducing reusable products into our homes, reducing our reliance on regular plastic items. We are committed to doing what we can, to lower our environmental impact as our world could use a little help from us all right now.
Sustainability is to ensure that the biosphere and human civilisation can coexist harmoniously. We need to satisfy our needs of today but not adversely affect our future. But sustainability isn't just about environmental factors, it’s interlinked with economical and social factors also. We need to work on sustainability today so future generations can benefit.
Here at Wild and Stone, We are very passionate about making sure that not just our end products, but their entire journeys, their impact on people and planet, from creation to fruition, is as sustainable as possible. We work very closely with all of our suppliers and partners to ensure we are all working in a sustainable and ethical manner.
We are committed to keeping our supply chains as transparent and ethical as possible. Our products are only made from materials that are farmed ethically and sustainably - we only use organic textiles and we only ever use Moso bamboo.
Wild & Stone have a close relationship with our suppliers and are in continual contact with our partners to ensure regulations are adhered to.
We use FSC® certified materials wherever possible, as shown on our product pages. FSC® C007915.
We are committed to ensuring that the people who form our supply chain are paid fairly for their work, earning above a living wage. They must be treated well by their employers and should feel safe in their working environment.
Our workers are of the legal age of employment and they work legal hours (no more than eight hours per day).
We passionately believe in only using materials and processes that cause the least amount of damage to our planet. We work to ensure that no unnecessary chemicals are used in the manufacturing processes.
We only use eco-friendly and organic materials, OEKO-TEX® certified dyes and water based, toxic free paints. We only use Moso bamboo and you’ll never find any melamine added to our products.
All Wild & Stone products come in recycled packaging or recyclable packing, lowering our impact further. We have worked hard to minimise our carbon footprint by consolidating our shipments and only shipping by sea and not air.
The majority of Wild and Stone products are made from bamboo. You could say that we have a bit of a love affair with this mighty plant. Not only is it hardy and naturally anti-bacterial, but as a fast growing grass, it requires no fertiliser and self-regenerates from its own roots. This means it doesn’t need to be replanted making it naturally sustainable.
Our fabrics use organic cotton and are OEKO-TEX® certified ensuring we are not participating in the use of harmful chemicals that enter our waterways and seas and hurt our environment and planet.
The shipping of our products is an ongoing challenge that we will continually try to evolve and improve on. As many of our products are sourced from around the world we are acutely aware of our carbon footprint. We ship by sea rather than by air. We fill all containers to maximise each shipment.
We are happy to say we have made great improvements as our company has grown but we are committed to constantly reviewing our shipping and making improvements. Although it does not solve the problem, we have decided to work with a carbon offsetting programme. We are currently reviewing options and will have an update on this soon.
Both the items our products come in and the packaging it is posted to our customers in is fully recycled and recyclable. All stickers use eco glue to lower our environmental impact further.
We understand that sustainability and environmental factors are constantly changing, what is good today, may not be good tomorrow and so we are committed to continuously work to improve our position, researching and taking up new solutions as they become available. And we promise to pass on our learnings and share our new knowledge.
Moso bamboo outperforms all other bamboo as well as hardwood varieties in carbon dioxide absorption and oxygen production.
Moso is the most rapidly growing plant on the planet, growing at an amazing speed of up to one metre per day during its growing season.
Pandas do not eat the Moso species of bamboo so the harvesting of it is not a threat to pandas and their habitats.
Most crops require fertilisers in order to produce a high enough volume of product to be profitable, bamboo does not require any - keeping damaging chemicals out of our seas and waterways.
The annual harvest of mature stems does not harm the mother plant, meaning it self-regenerates needing no replanting. We use FSC® certified materials wherever possible, as shown on our product pages.
Once bamboo has reached maturity, it is incredibly strong. Products made of Moso bamboo are very strong and durable, extending their life and reducing waste.
